This Means War
(Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, Chelsea Handler)
Imagine a life where there are no rules; Add a gorgeous lead female, a hot American guy, a sweet British guy, and an opinionated best friend; and you get This Means War. Reese Witherspoon plays Lauren a beautiful and creative product tester who loves her job, but finds herself in trouble when her best friend (Handler) wants to get her a date. Lauren is a sweet woman who finds it hard to find the right man, after getting her heart broken by the wrong one.
The movie has an amazing opening scene with an epic battle. Two CIA agents FDR(Pine) and Tuck(Hardy) have their targets in sight, ready to pounce on the bad guys at any moment. Finally, all hell breaks loose and the fight begins. Bullets are flying around the room, while the two agents slide and roll around the room aiming their guns at anyone who moves. We have a battle scene that will reel in both men and women with the fighting and of course the hot guys doing it. The two men will clearly take a bullet for one another; But, will everything change when a charming and beautiful woman enters into both of their lives?
Lauren has the very difficult job, after a few twists and turns, to decide if either of the men is the one that she would spend the rest of her life with. The two men turn their friendship upside down to win Lauren in the contest they have made for themselves. Each man is very different: the sweet British guy who wants true love(Hardy), and the American bad boy who is only interested in the one night stand(Pine). The two men sabotage one another, even going as far as to surveillance the dates using CIA equipment. The scenes where the traps are set are very fun to watch and will keep you laughing the entire time.
As far as funny goes Chelsea Handler steals the show. Handler plays Trish, the crude and married best friend to Lauren. Trish(Handler) wants nothing more than for her best friend to find the man of her dreams. Handler is hilarious in the movie, most likely because she decided to ad-lib most of her lines instead of actually reading the script. This was Handler’s first major role, and she nailed it with quick one-liners and perfect comedic timing.
This Means War is a hilarious movie that is action packed until the credits role at the end. It has a winning cast that is easy on the eyes as well as funny. The movie is a great romantic comedy that is fun for a date night, or even a night out with friends. It will keep women entertained with the friendships, love, and hot guys. The movie will also entertain the men when the “bro-code” is turned on its head as well as watching the action that comes with being a CIA Agent.
I do not want to give anything away, but Lauren does pick her true love in a very intense and life-changing moment…
